Fanta had a rough start in life and he was very lucky not once, but three times. Fanta’s mother had trouble during late pregnancy and it was touch and go. The vet was concerned but in the end she successfully delivered triplets. Fanta was the smallest triplet and he struggled to get a drink. The human who spotted the ewe in trouble was watching though and when Fanta gave up and sat in a corner on his own he knew it was time to intervene.
Fanta needed a drink urgently because he might not have had one at all. Fanta struggled to drink and had some trouble with his jaw but with some persistence he suddenly got the hang of it and finished the bottle in seconds! It was clear that his mother couldn’t handle all three so from then on Fanta had to be bottle fed.
For the first week Fanta was a little grumpy and needed around the clock treatment. He started to improve quickly though and soon he was jumping around the garden. Just as it looked like Fanta was out of the woods he had a major set back. Suddenly his body froze up and he was unable to move. It was late on a Sunday and his human didn’t know what to do. He started to think that poor Fanta wasn’t going to make it.
He made him as comfortable as possible and thankfully he was able to give him a drink by carefully holding him so he didn't choke. Fanta didn’t improve overnight and the next morning his human feared the worse but to his surprise Fanta was up and standing like nothing had happened! Amazing!!!
Fanta has always been a very spirited and only trusts his human dad. He’s like a First Lieutenant who takes his job very seriously and is always very alert and aware of his surroundings. Nothing get’s past Fanta. To maintain this he sleeps very deeply and always find himself a very comfy position. Fanta is the team leader and always makes the decision where to move next, if Fanta moves out everyone follows. Beans and Frosty weight more than Fanta but Fanta is feisty and he’s one year older so they are happy for him to lead the wooly gang and don't challenge him.
Despite being feisty Fanta is like a big affectionate dog with his human. He follows him wherever he goes with complete trust and rubs up against him when he comes to see him in the mornings. Like Beans, Fanta used to love skipping around the garden when he was a lamb. The instagram account @fantathelamb was originally setup to share Fanta's adventures in the garden.
Fanta is not a purebred Wiltshire like the other woolies he is half. This means he has a woolier coat and he doesn't fully shed his winter coat. Once a year Fanta is hand shorn which he quite likes.
